CentreStack vs. Anchor

Battle Card
Replace eFolder Anchor for Better Permissions, Selective-Sync, Drive Mapping Support and Up-To-Date file-sync-and-share feature set.

Does Anchor Support Active Directory & NTFS Permissions?

At first glance, Anchor (now Axcient or Efolder), can seem very similar to CentreStack. But when it comes to file server migration or providing direct access to a file server on-premises, there's really no comparison. If you care about Active Directory users and NTFS permissions, migration to Anchor can be quite costly and cumbersome since there's no support for NTFS, inheritance or granular folder permissions.

Why CentreStack?

CentreStack is used by enterprises and service providers to replace Anchor with an on-premises file sharing solution that simplifies file server access with an access layer for local file servers or private cloud storage services that fully integrates with existing file shares, Active Directory users and NTFS permissions.

NTFS Permissions

Anchor's file server enablement doesn't support NTFS permission integration. Once you put files into Anchor, the permissions associated with the files are lost. In CentreStack, NTFS permission is integrated natively.

On-Demand Sync

In Anchor, files under sync will sync 100% to all devices. In CentreStack, you can sync only files you are using and only files you are allowed to use.

Cloud Drive Mapping

In CentreStack, you have a drive letter to access files and folders, with permission check and file locking. In Anchor, you have a folder with all file synchronized inside.

Granular Folder Permissions

In shared folders, Anchor only support user assignments at the top of the folder. In CentreStack, the granular permissions can be assigned to different users at different level of the folder hierarchy.

Selective Sync

CentreStack has selective sync allowing you to build up a local cache based on the hard drive capacity of the remote device.

Modern User Interface

CentreStack updates product features on a weekly basis with modern user interface. Anchor's product update cycle are much longer and the user interface wasn't updated as quickly.

Our customers say it best.

Benefits after Replacing Anchor

Gain Permission Control

CentreStack has NTFS permission integration and granular folder permission control. It is much easier to implement access control in CentreStack.

Mobile Access to File Servers

Anchor requires that data gets copied to its own data centers. CentreStack provides the option to remotely access data on your existing file servers. This is an option in Anchor that is not a focus and does not work seamlessly because of the lack of native integration with NTFS and Active Directory.

Simpler User Experience

CentreStack's mapped drives are based on file system drivers for scalability and performance. For end users, they get the familiar mapped drive to their files with file locking support.

Better Support

CentreStack listens to our customers and partners and the development process is agile and the product update is provided on a weekly basis.

Get the Facts

Critical questions to ask when evaluating CentreStack as an alternative to Anchor. Make sure you consider these questions - and their answers - when it's decision time.

Data Privacy & Security
1. How does it manage files and folder permission?

Active Directory integration, NTFS integration and granular folder permission are all key features for a modern file sharing solution. Anchor doesn't have answer to this question.

User Experience
2. Does it synchronize files 100% to all devices?

Anchor depends on synchronizing files 100% to the end point device for it to be functional. It doesn't have on-demand synchronization, or enhanced selective synchronization. Nor does it have a mapped drive for on-demand access with file locking.
